Pentney Lakes Cabin is nestled amongst 275 acres of private lakes and woodland a few miles from the historic town of King`s Lynn in West Norfolk. It stands in it's own 2/3 acre garden, which has several sunny seating areas, `secret` garden areas, plus a huge lawn overlooking a lake. The Log Cabin is a lovely welcoming Holiday Home, and would be suitable for Fishing Enthusiasts, Golf Enthusiasts, Equestrians, Walkers, Cyclists, Relaxers, Romantic weekenders, Friends re-uniting, Children, Older Holidaymakers, History lovers, and so the list goes on.
All the lakes carry very well maintained Carp and Catfish stocks and provide some of the best year-round, day and night coarse fishing in the country. See the on-site bailiff for tickets. A variety of watersports can be arranged both locally and at the nearby coast. There are several quality Golf courses close by that encourage day memberships. There is also a Horse Society approved stables just 2 miles away and there are details and prices of horse-riding activities in the cabin. Norfolk is also famous for the large number of RSPB birdwatching sites and nature reserves.
This part of Norfolk offers an amazing variety of activities and history. A plethora of woodland, forests, lakes, rivers, footpaths and quiet lanes provide an excellent environment for cycling and walking and a selection of books and maps are available in the cabin. The Pentney lakes estate also has a huge diversity of flora and fauna. One of the lakes is managed by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust as a haven for wildfowl and migratory birds and neighbouring East Winch common is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest.
For history lovers there are the nearby ruins at Castle Acre with it's Norman Castle and earthworks and the large medieval Priory. The historic medieval Port of King's Lynn is six miles away and beyond that Castle Rising, one of the finest examples of a 12th century keep in the country on massive surrounding earthworks. The Royal Estate of Sandringham lies just a few miles north of Pentney Lakes and several other stately homes and halls are within easy reach. The landscape is littered with Windmills and Norman Churches.
A number of beaches can be found a short drive away along the Wash plus the Victorian resort of Hunstanton famous for it's striped cliffs, wide sandy beaches, incredible sunsets and the Sea Life Centre and seal sanctuary.
There are 2 Steam railways traversing Norfolk and, of course, boating on the famous Broads and the nearby Fens.
Worthy days out include trips to the cathedral towns of Norwich and Ely, Cambridge, the famous beaches at Wells next-the-sea and all manner of kid's activities at Bewilderwood, The Amazona Zoo, Norfolk Lavender etc. A comprehensive collection of leaflets is available in the cabin.
King's Lynn and the nearby market town of Swaffham offer excellent shopping facilities and a great selection of restaurants, Pubs and bars. You would never be short of things to do ! However, you could also spend your holiday in quiet retreat, or contained activity in the Cabin and its surrounds, lounging about on the verandah, patio, garden or the Cabin itself, which is 2 miles from the nearest major road. For those with children there is a small playground area on the estate, a hundred yards from the Cabin. Just stock up with essential provisions and enjoy the peace and tranquility of Englands sunniest County.
